Amendment to Constitution and Byelaws
Adopted at the Extra-ordinary General Body Meeting held on 6th Spetember
2007, Thursday at Silver Jubilee Auditorium
Central Power Research Institute, CV Raman Avenue, Bangalore.
A. Accounts - Clause 10 Sec 4
Existing:
Sec 4 The Treasurer will also prepare a Statement of Accounts for the period January 1 to December 31, to be presented to the Annual General Body Meeting of the Bangalore Section.
To be modified as: The Treasurer will prepare a Statement of Accounts for the period April 1 of previous to March 31 of current year, The Treasurer will also prepare a Statement of Accounts for the
period January 1 to December 31, to be presented to the Annual General Body Meeting ofthe Bangalore Section.
B. Amendment: - Clause 12 Sec 1 (Of bye - laws)
Any amendment to the Byelaws can be proposed either by:
- A Resolution of the Executive Committee, or
- A Requisition signed by at least 15 Corporate Members of the Section.
Sec 2: The proposed Amendment will be brought before an Extraordinary General Body Meeting, of the Section, at which a minimum of 25 Corporate Members (as defined under Item 3, Sec 6) are present. The Amendment will be considered passed, if at least two-thirds of the members present, vote in its favour.
Sec 3: An extraordinary GBM can also be called by EXECOM or a petition signed by 15 corporate members. Rest of the procedures for GBM will be same as above. The GBM will be chaired by the Chairman of the Section, in his absence the senior Executive Vice-Chairman can chair the GBM.
The following sections to be added:
C. Dissolution: Dissolution of the Section can be decided in an AGM with concurrence of members and as per procedure decided in the AGM.
D. Utilization: The funds of the Section shall be utilised exclusively for the activities stated in the “Directive guidelines and principles of the Byelaws” and related organisation effort.
E. Investment - Investment – Treasurer under the direction of Executive Committee, should manage the funds of the Section in a manner, which is most appropriate to the Section’s objectives and follow all tenets and principles of good financial management
F. Beneficiary -The Beneficiary is the IEEE.
G. Irrevocability – The decisions taken by members of IEEE Bangalore at AGM and by executive committee of IEEE Bangalore Section are irrevocable. Amendments to byelaws shall be taken up as stated in the corresponding clause.
12 Social Activities:
The Section, various Chapters and Student Branches attached to the Section shall continuously endeavour to increase the Social Awareness among the general public, including non-members of IEEE, in various emerging areas of Technical/non-Technical and allied fields. In this direction, the following activities are to be taken up by the Section regularly.
- BRV Vardhan memorial student paper contest carrying cash awards and certificate (open to all undergraduate students from engineering institutions in Karnataka State).
- Post graduate student paper contest (open to all Post-Graduate students from engineering institutions in Karnataka State).
- Annual technical Symposium of the Section (open to all).
- Conducting tutorials and workshops on emerging technologies by experts.
- Organising free technical talks by experts on cutting edge technologies.
- To improve the managerial skills, organize Student Leader Workshop wherein all the student branch co-ordinators of all Engineering Colleges in the State participate actively to derive the benefits.
- Technical talks in various engineering colleges of the State to guide them to initiate IEEE student branch and digital library facilities in line with All India Council of Technical Education requirements.
- Aid the student community to organize Annual Technical Fests at the Student Branches of Section.
- Technical colloquium viz talks from multiple fields at various engineering colleges for the benefit of students and faculty.
- Sponsor students for attending national/international Student Congress.
- Technical and financial assistance for the Engineering colleges for organizing National /International Conference.
- Facilitation for final year Projects and Guides, and Educational Tours for the Engineering Community from the state.
- Honour accomplished scientific and technical experts in various fields, from across the country.
- Encouraging the social awareness amongst the student community and general public to undertake professional clubs like Energy Conservation, Environmental Awareness, ROBOTICS and allied projects/fields to help the under privileged.
- Initiate continuing education for the benefit of Society.
